The Demise of Building 63
The demolition of Building 63 has begun. This is the building that housed the Craft Rooms, Pottery Room, Weight Gym, Climbing Gym and most importantly, the Bowling Alley.
The second story has already been torn off and all of the parts of the Bowling Alley have been removed.
Sad times for a historic old building that deserved better.

According to Bill Spindler the Ice Runway has closed.
The C-17s were starting to land at Pegasus on 04 December McMurdo time.
The LC-130s will operate this year from Pegasus as well, rather than from Williams Field.
Bill is going to find out if there even is a Williams Field this year.

My father enlisted in the Marine Corps. at age 17 in Allentown or Bethlehem, PA in April 1944. He is still alive and I am seeking information on his service. One thing he still brags about is his service with the "Puckered Penguins". He tells stories of his service landing on Antarctica. He's very proud of their accomplishments. The only thing I know is that his pilots name is Buzz Dreyfuss. Buzz, according to the widow of a comrad "Stella Leak", from New Zealand, is Buzz is still alive at age 9…

I did two tours with VXE-6 first tour was 1977 to 1981 when I went to staff duty in Virginia but I requested and recieved orders to go back to the Squadron for a second tour 1984 to 1987 and wouldn't of traded it for anything , best damn tours I had in 23 years in Uncle Sam's yacht club. Was a LC-130 Loadmaster and NATOPS Evaluator. Would of loved to go back for a third tour but I retired in 1990.

Sir:
I am D. J. Baker and I would appreciate it if you could tell me what it
takes to be an F-16 fighter pilot in the USAF. What classes should I
take in high school to help the career I want to take later in life?
What could I do to get into the Air Force Academy?
Sincerely, DJ Baker

Ok, I'm not sure if I was outgoing enough to be remembered, plus, I wasn't there for very long. I was a Line Dawg in the squadron from early 1993 to late 1994 and had the privilage of being deployed to the Ice. I found it to be a wonderful (as well as very entertaining) experience. I met lots of people I liked and hung out with, most I've kept in touch with; there are some however I would love to send notes to but just can't find them. Hopefully one day I'll find them.

So, I'm in Millington TN (just outside of Memphis) going to 'A' School for Avionics and I get my orders to VXE-6! Well, of course I freaked out when I read ANTARCTICA I was stunned!! On my dream sheet I had requested to be near my home and my Grandma in San Francisco and never expected to get orders to ANTARCTICA - SO, I applied for 'B' school and was approved but it meant another 6 months and a pusbutton 3rd class out of B School PLUS 2 more years! Then one day I was at Personnel submitting my…

I would like to tell all my friends who we were stationed with in our Naval career. I would like to tell you about our accident. On January 4, 1998 we were on our way home from church and it was raining. Our church is at the 5 mile marker and we live off the 24 mile marker on Interstate 40. Between the 15 and 16 mile marker an 18 years old girl hydroplaned and hit the front of our Blazer. There were five of us in the Blazer. Julie was driving, I was in the passenger seat, our daughter Sarah, dau…

Shane's family is asking for any pictures of Shane that you might have.
I sent them the photo that Ron Watkins took, they are very appreciative of it.
You can put them in this blog via the "add pictures" link or else send it to me and I'll pass it along.
Thanks!
